WARNINGS have been issued after police noticed a huge rise in the number of reports of youths throwing stones in a busy town centre.
Brierfield Neighbourhood Policing Team warned that appropriate action will be taken against individuals who are found to be throwing stones ot other objects, which they say couldn’t put lives at risk.
A police spokesperson said: "Unfortunately we are still receiving reports from town centre business owners and locals in Brierfield regarding youths throwing stones at premises and vehicles, potentially putting lives at risk and causing damage
"Over the last few months we have been actively policing these issues with a dedicated Anti-Social behaviour (ASB) car and have dealt with offenders as and when we have identified them.
"If anyone has any knowledge of who is involved in these criminal activities then please report them to your local neighbourhood team and we will take appropriate action against them."
You can report incidents directly by using the 101 non-emergency number.
