TWO businesses organised a sports day that raised over £800 for the East Lancashire Hospice.

Anthony Green, of Blackburn Yam Dyers and David Miller, of Metre Electrical and Maintenance Services organised the sports day in Blackburn at St Oswald's Primary School, Knuzden, which raised over £800.

Last Saturday, the sports day had something for the whole family, with a bouncy castle, inflatable assault course, a minion character taking part in a tug of war, hook-a-duck, face painting and glitter tattoos amongst many more activities.

Adults and children also teamed up for a three-legged race, egg-and-spoon and beanbag relay.

The event was part of a local business commitment to the East Lancashire Hospice Corporate Challenge, where 25 local businesses are raising money for the hospice.

Anthony Green, the Managing Director of Blackburn Yam Dyers, said: "I'd just like to say a huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this fantastic day together.

"Dave and I are old friends and we have worked really hard together to organise the event, but we simply couldn’t have done it without all the volunteers who lent a hand. They not only helped us pull it all together, but also turned up on the day to make sure the whole thing ran smoothly.

"I’m over the moon that we’ve managed to raise so much money and I really hope it makes a difference to the people who use East Lancashire Hospice. It is a wonderful charity and we are proud to support them."
