A BOY who reached the Britain’s Got Talent semi-finals this year has set off on a summer tour supporting Il Divo and Michael Ball.
Oscar Williams, 12, of Laneshawbridge, has joined his band members in Bring It North to support classical crossover group Il Divo on their 11-date Timeless Castles and Country summer tour, which started a week ago at Euston Park in Thetford.
The five young singers wowed Simon Cowell and fellow BGT judges after performing Elton John’s Electricity from Billy Elliot in their audition for the show earlier this year.
The young boy band, aged between 10 and 12 years old, are drawn from all corners of the north of England and were put together by a school music teacher, after auditioning along with 500 other hopefuls.
Oscar’s mother Rachel Williams said: “It’s just been beyond overwhelming. I’m an emotional wreck 24/7. I can’t believe it. Oscar is only 12 and he is performing in front of thousands of people.
"The fact he had this fantastic opportunity because of Britain’s Got Talent makes me forever grateful and so proud of my boy.”
The five boys, who have played in front of a crowd of 10,000 at the Old Royal Naval College in Greenwich, are set to perform at Edinburgh Castle tomorrow night followed by performances in Lytham, Grantham and Scarborough.
