A TRANSPORT and accommodation have appointed a new chairman.

Denis Wormwell has taken his new role at Accrington-based CMAC Group.

He was previously CEO of Shearings Leisure Group, the specialist operator of escorted tours and leisure hotels. After joining the business in 2007, he led a buyout of the group in 2014 before successfully selling in 2016.

Before Shearings, he held various senior roles including CEO of National Express.

Steve Turner, Chief Executive Officer at CMAC, said Denis would bring valuable experience from across ground transport, tour operations and the hotel industries to the group.

He said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Denis to CMAC. His experience and knowledge will be vital at a time of rapid growth at CMAC and will ensure that we remain fully focused in all our business areas as we continue to expand. We look forward to working with him.”
