A SECOND grass fire in less than three days broke out off the A56.
Three fire crews were called to battle the blaze at around 7pm on Saturday just off the A56 at Rising Bridge.
The fire service requested support from Highways England to close the A56 southbound while crews battled the blaze.
Highways England closed the road and advised drivers to take other routes.
The road was later reopened shortly before 10pm after the fire was extinguished.
A fire service spokesman said: "Highways England were been requested to close the A56 southbound whilst we dealt with this incident.
"Thank you for your understanding and co-operation."
