ONE lane of the M65 was closed after a car fire this morning.

Crews from Blackburn Fire Station and another from Darwen attended the scene between junctions three and four about a mile from the services.

A Lancashire Fire Service spokesman said: "We were called at around 11.56am and there was a car on the hard shoulder of the motorway.

"We used a ventilation unit and also a hose reel and the fire was put out by 12.30pm and the road was closed."

Lancashire Road Police tweeted about the incident saying that there was a 'vehicle fire eastbound of the M65 between junction 3 and 4. (There were) No injuries. Road open now after short closure' at 12.30pm.
