A WOMAN who had been to a family barbeque underestimated the strength of the home made Sangria she was drinking.
Blackburn magistrates heard was breathalysed on her way home and gave a reading more than double the legal limit.
Giddins, 53, of Harwood Bar, Mill Lane, Great Harwood, pleaded guilty to driving with excess alcohol. She was fined £130 with £85 costs and £30 victim surcharge and banned from driving for 18 months.
Gareth Price, defending, said his client was ashamed to lose her good name at her age.
"She had been drinking home mixed Sangria at the family barbecue and misjudged the amount of alcohol she had drunk," said Mr Price. "She looks after her grandchildren after school but when she is banned will not be able to do that. It is the impact on her family that causes her most shame."
