THE glorious weather is set to continue in East Lancashire this week.

A mini heatwave has gripped the county in the last seven days and seen temperatures soar to highs of 30 degrees and above.

Although temperatures are expected to drop to the early 20s over the next five days, the sunny weather is set to remain across the North West.

In Blackburn, Clitheroe, Nelson and Rawtenstall temperatures are expected to reach heights of 23 degrees today.

While temperatures in Darwen, Accrington, Colne and Burnley will be a little cooler abut still as high as 22 degrees.

Many places in East Lancashire are expected to remain largely dry, sunny and warm throughout the remainder of the week, a Met Office spokesman has confirmed.

A spokesman added: "There is perhaps the risk of the odd shower. Some mist and fog patches are likely overnight."

With the hot weather set to continue, water company United Utilities have reminded people to be careful of how much water they consume.

A spokesman said: "Yesterday an additional half a billion litres was used and it has been the same. We urgently need your support to avoid a hosepipe ban."
