A FORMER England cricketer and coach will be presented with the title of Honorary Freeman of Hyndburn.
Two of Accrington’s favourite sons David ‘Bumble’ Lloyd and Cllr Bernard Dawson, who has served the council for 38 years, will be bestowed with the honour, in recognition of their achievements and service to the area.
Mr Lloyd was born and raised in Accrington and rose to fame playing cricket for Accrington Cricket Club in the Lancashire League, Lancashire and England.
Since 1999, he has been a regular Sky Sports cricket commentator.
Cllr Mohammad Ayub will also be officially installed as Hyndburn’s Mayor at Accrington Town Hall this morning from 11.30am.
After the service finishes there be a civic parade followed by a civic procession at 12.15pm.
