THREE people have been identified by police after yobs attacked buses and cars following the England game at the weekend.

After England's 6-1 victory over Panama in their World Cup match on Sunday police were called to a large crowd causing trouble outside The Commercial Hotel in Haslingden.

Police said investigations are ongoing into the offences and they are stepping up patrols in the town for the England vs Belgium game on Thursday.

Inspector Dave Clarke said: “Following the disorder in Manchester Road on Sunday we have identified three people we want to speak to with regards criminal offences currently being investigated.

“Patrols will be stepped up in the town for Thursday’s fixture and we have spoken to the licensed premises in Haslingden to reinforce their responsibilities during football fixtures.

"Licensees have a duty to help prevent disorder and these responsibilities do not end when their customers leave the premises."

“We want people to enjoy the World Cup but remind football fans that any incidents of disorder or violence will be taken seriously to ensure the safety of all fans and those simply wishing to go about their normal business unhindered.”
