A 24-YEAR-OLD man has been jailed for dangerous driving and causing serious injuries.

Muhammad Jawaid, from Blackburn, was sentenced at Manchester Crown Court to a year and eight months behind bars after the incident near Manchester city centre last year.

Jawaid was spotted speeding in Cheetham Hill Road in the early hours of Sunday, December 3, and later crashed into a man, seriously injuring him.

Jawaid, of Whalley New Road, Blackburn, had earlier pleaded guilty to causing serious injury by dangerous driving and driving without insurance.

He has also banned from driving for five years and must take an extended re-test.
