SLIPPERS have long been a go-to choice for a Christmas or birthday gift, shown here by this advert from November 1959.
With the festive period fast approaching the old National Shoe Service in Blackburn was encouraging readers to think with their feet when it came to gifts.
The Town Hall Street store was offering a variety of slippers and bootees at reasonable prices, with sizes and styles fit for the whole family, young and old, while stocks lasted.
Although the comfy footwear then would not have offered the wide range of colourful styles available if you go into a shop today, sellers was clearly targetting those looking for a Christmas gift with the advert in the November 26 edition.
