MOTORISTS have been warned to expect delays on a major route due to resurfacing works.

The work on North Valley Road and Vivary Way in Colne will involve short sections of road which are badly worn being dug out and fully resurfaced.

It is one of the key routes linking Lancashire and Yorkshire.

And Lancashire Council bosses said drivers travelling through Colne may face disruption on Sunday morning (June 24) due to the works.

Traffic will be managed manually using stop and go boards, with the repair team moving between locations throughout the morning.

The work will take place from 6am to 12pm.

Simon Bucknell, Lancashire County Council highways engineer, said: "We know this is an extremely busy route, which is why we've planned this vital patching work on a Sunday morning when it is least likely to cause disruption to businesses and people's regular journeys.

"However, short lane closures will be in place and it will cause some delays, so we are asking people to leave more time for their journeys if they're planning to visit businesses in this area, or travel through Colne when this work is ongoing."
