A MAN suffered 'nasty' injuries after he was attacked by two men and knocked over by a van.

The 29-year-old man was walking on Old Bank Lane with a woman when two men pulled up in a stolen white Citroen Berlingo van and attacked him at 2.15pm on Thursday, May 24.

Police, who have only just released the appeal, said as the man was crossing the road, the attackers returned to the ban and drove away, knocking him over.

The van was returned to its owner, however police are looking to identify the attackers who saw the van, which had a registration plate of LB65 FMA, at the time of the attack.

Detective constable Rubina Akoo, said: "This was a targeted attack which happened in broad daylight.

"The CCTV clearly shows the victim being thrown in the air and he suffered some nasty injuries which required surgery.

"We would urge anyone who saw the incident or who has any information which may help to identify the attackers to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting reference ED1811082.
