HOMES have been left without water after a pipe burst.

People either had no water or 'very poor pressure' due to the leak in Zion Street, Colne, at around 5am today.

Engineers repaired the leaking pipe in the BB8 area by about 2pm and United Utilities have apologised for 'any inconvenience caused.'

The water company said in a statement on their website: "Our team of engineers have finished repairing the leaking pipe on Zion Street and your water should be starting to flow normally again. However it may take up to 2 hours for the water pressure to return to normal levels. We’re sorry if this has affected you and thank you for your patience.

"Because there’s been some disturbance to the pipes in your area you may notice the water is a little cloudy or discoloured, please check our discoloured water page for more information."
