Year 5 pupils from Peel Park Primary School celebrated their bright futures with a graduation ceremony at Accrington and Rossendale College.

The event took place to congratulate the 89 year-5 pupils; who have taken part in a series of workshops at the college during the last term.

The workshops were designed to highlight the huge variety of careers they can choose from. The children have been testing their skills at everything from cooking to CSI style investigations.

The ‘Higher Futures 4 U' initiative aims to engage with primary school pupils through term-long career-based workshops, giving children the chance to view all of their talents, raise aspirations and demonstrate routes into careers they may not have considered before.

Charlotte Scheffmann, Assistant Principal at Accrington and Rossendale College said: "It has been wonderful for many reasons, leading the graduation ceremony for the pupils was a great honour.

"Our goal is always to raise aspirations for children; showing them just how many options are available is a brilliant way to do this.

"I was also looking forward to seeing Brandon, one of our previous students here who now works full time for the school.

"He is a brilliant example of the success our students are having.

"It is also great to see local primary schools engaging with us and opening doors for their children."
