A BREWERY is backing police to bring those who ransacked its premises to justice - despite a lack of arrests.
Thwaites, based in Blackburn, announced last week that 211 years of brewing in the town had come to an end following the destruction carried out by travellers over Bank Holiday weekend.
Around 100 people broke into the Penny Street site and laid waste to the offices and brewery, resulting in £100,000 damage.
Police eventually “negotiated” with the travellers to leave the site and escorted the convoy up to the M65 before being allowed to go.
Former Lancs top cop Mick Gradwell linked the incident to travellers making their way to Appleby Horse Fair, held last weekend.
However no arrests have been made since the end of the fair.
The Lancashire Telegraph reported earlier in the month that Chief Constable Andy Rhodes said those responsible would be brought to justice.
He said: “The Blackburn force is determined to make sure the people who carried out this criminal act pay.”
And that has been welcomed by the brewery, who is leaving Blackburn for a new £12million HQ in Mellor Brook.
A spokesman for Thwaites said: “We are continuing to do all we can to assist the police with their investigation.
“We are reassured that they are saying that arrests will be made so that those criminals responsible for the damage and theft on our Blackburn site will be held to account.”
Lancashire Police said the investigations are still ongoing.
