A WOMAN had to be cut out of a car and taken to hospital after a crash.

Firefighters from Haslingden and Rawtenstall were called to Manchester Road, Haslingden, after two cars crashed at around 12.30am.

Police said a black Volkswagen and a black Peugeot collided.

A fire service spokesman said: "The incident involved two cars and there was one casualty trapped.

"The person was released by firefighters using Holmatro spreaders and cutters and a lightening unit to free.

"Crews were at the scene for approximately forty five minutes.

"The casualty was taken away by ambulance."

A 26-year-old man from Todmorden has been arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
