FINDING a car parking spot on a match day is often a problem for all football fans and the issue was clearly prevalent here in the 1920s.

Pictured is a car park at the rear of Bolton Road in Ewood filled to capacity on a match day for Blackburn Rovers.

Ewood Park, a short walk from the 200 vehicle capacity car park, had opened in 1882 and has been the home ground of Rovers ever since.

A whole range of vehicles are parked up, giving an insight into some of the different methods of transport used in the era.

Rovers spent the 1920s in the top flight of English football peaking with a seventh place finish in 1929.

However the highlight of the decade for Rovers fans would have come one year earlier when they lifted the FA Cup by beating Huddersfield Town 3-1 in the final, with two goals from Jack Roscamp.

The cup run featured victories at Ewood Park against Newcastle United, Exeter City, Port Vale and Manchester United before going on to lift the cup, which was the last major silverware for the club until their Premier League title in 1995.
