A PIE company has given a special treat to a couple who shared their wedding date with royalty.

Holland’s Pies delivered a handmade wedding cake made entirely of pies to couple Lauren and Jonathan Smith who now share their wedding anniversary with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

Lauren and her partner Jonathan, from Accrington, won the handmade potato and meat Holland’s wedding pies for their wedding which took place at Whitehall Hotel in Darwen on Saturday.

The pie company had launched a competition to give couples across the North West who were due to marry on May 19 the chance to win the very special wedding cake made of pies.

Mrs Smith said: “Thank you so much to Holland’s for making our wedding day even more special.

"We think our cake definitely rivals the Royals’!

"Our guests loved it and there wasn’t a crumb left by the last dance.”

Leanne Holcroft, brand manager at Holland’s Pies, said: “Congratulations to Lauren and Jonathan from everyone at Holland’s Pies.

"We wish them all the happiness in the world.

"We hope this extra special cake went down well with all the guests – we’re sure it was a day to remember, just like the royal wedding.”
