FUNDING worth £3million for creative community projects in the north of England has been backed by Pendle's MP, Andrew Stephenson.
Mr Stephenson has urged organisations in his constituency to apply as they may be eligible for up to £150,000 in funding.
Examples of projects that could be successful include theatres working to improve child literacy, or art workshops for disabled people or the elderly.
The new fund builds on £150 million already invested by the Government as part of its Industrial Strategy deal for the creative industries.
Mr Stephenson said: "This government has shown real commitment to the north and not just in traditional sectors such as manufacturing.
"We have a thriving set of creative industries in Pendle who can benefit from this new funding.
It also follows the announcement earlier in the year that the government will commit £11million through the Northern Cultural Regeneration Fund to support major cultural projects.
Arts minister, Michael Ellis said: "Britain's creative industries are an economic and cultural powerhouse that is recognised around the world.
"This new fund is another vote of confidence in the sector that will develop future talent, benefit communities and provide a lasting legacy from the Great Exhibition of the North."
