BARRATT Homes and the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds in Lancashire have extended their partnership to deliver more wildlife-friendly housing across Lancashire
They will work together to boost biodiversity and promote wildlife at particular developments, including Bowland Meadows in Longridge, The Links in Garstang ,and The Spinnings in Kirkham.
The partnership uses initiatives including hedgehog highways, wild bee friendly planting and swift brick to help all forms of wildlife and nature on new housing developments.
In the last 50 years, 56per cent of species have declined while 15 per cent are at risk of disappearing.
Mike Clarke, chief executive of the RSPB, said: “Having birds, butterflies, bees, hedgehogs and other visitors in our gardens makes us feel good about where we live as well as improving our own sense of wellbeing. Unfortunately our natural world is in trouble, so it is vital that we look at how construction can be sympathetic to nature and how future communities can welcome wildlife."
