Elliott Ward says no talks have taken place about making his stay with MK Dons permanent.

But the on-loan Rovers man admits the impending relegation for the Dons means the timing isn't right to be discussing his future.

Ward, who is out of contract at Ewood Park in the summer and not expected to be offered fresh terms, has played 13 times for MK since his January move.

At the time of the switch, Rovers boss Tony Mowbray felt there would be the opportunity for Ward to earn a permanent contract elsewhere in the EFL.

After a 2-0 defeat at Bradford on Tuesday, MK Dons are six points from safety with just two games to play.

When asked about his future by the Milton Keynes Citizen, the defender said:  "There are possibilities of anything, but it hasn't been spoken about. How can we talk about the future when we don't know where we're at? It hasn't been mentioned from either side for those reasons, and that's the right thing to do.

"I honestly don't know. I'm taking it game-by-game, trying to help the team get out of the trouble we've been in. At times, it hasn't been good enough from my side, but I have to keep going, and go again on Saturday if I'm picked."
