A WOMAN arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs was found to have neither in her system.

Blackburn magistrates heard despite her clean bill of health Gillian Marie Disley's driving was of such a poor standard she was charged with driving without due care and attention.

Disley, 49, of Brownhill Drive, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to driving without due care and without insurance. She was fined £120 with £30 victim surcharge and her licence endorsed with eight penalty points.

Andy Robinson, prosecuting, said at about 10 pm an officer saw a Mini One which had been circulated as having issues with its driving earlier in the evening. As he followed the Mini straddled the white lines. It stopped at traffic lights but took about 10 seconds to set off after the lights turned green.

"Having set off it travelled completely on the wrong side of the road," said Mr Robinson. "That was when the officer decided he had to stop the car."

Jonathan Taylor, defending, said his client was distressed and tired because of things that had happened in her personal life.

"When the police car started following her it made her nervous and had an impact on her driving," said Mr Taylor. He said Disley had not received the notice of renewal of her insurance.
