A MULTI-MILLION pound mansion complete with a heated indoor swimming pool, games room, bar and 10 bedrooms has been put on the market.

Bramley Meade Hall on Wiswell Lane, Whalley, is a 18,000 square foot property nestled away in three acres of private land and gardens.

The historic hall, which dates back to the 1800s, also boasts an impressive nine reception rooms.

Agents Athertons in Whalley are handling the sale and a spokesman said: “Bramley Meade Hall is an important property of great character and local historic significance, situated on the edge of the popular village of Whalley in the heart of the Ribble Valley.

“The house has been elegantly converted by highlighting the original features of the building and adding to the main house to complement the Italian Renaissance style architecture.

“It has been restored sympathetically and is in fine decorative order, superbly presented throughout.

“The delightful gardens, extending to approximately three acres, complement the house with well-maintained lawns and planted areas with a beautiful fountain and stone-built water feature at the front of the house.”

Although the property is 'price on application', Atherton’s did confirm the property has a multi-million pound price tag.

The house was built in 1882 for textile manufacturer Richard Thompson and was one of a number of prestigious residences built north of Whalley in the late 19th century.

Come the 20th century the home was transformed into a maternity hospital which operated until 1992.

After that time, the home was converted back into a family residence.

The games room, which features original wood panelling, is currently home to a full-size snooker table and features an original fireplace.

There is an entertaining room with a granite serving bar which leads directly into the indoor swimming pool and the conservatory provides a peaceful sitting with views over the lawn, Roman well and meadow beyond.
