A FORMER nursery nurse died after injecting herself with a ‘cocktail of drugs’, an inquest heard.

Preston Coroners Court heard Kerry Louise Hearle, from Blackburn, died after deliberately injecting herself with a mixture of drugs at her home in Bonsall Street.

The 39-year-old had messaged friend Tammy Dwyer to come round to her house several times between 12.30am and 1.23am on January 7.

The messages from Miss Hearle said she ‘could not cope and stop taking drugs’, the inquest heard.

Ms Dwyer had known her for about 10 years and had got back in contact over the past six months via Facebook and visited her three times.

When she arrived Miss Hearle was ‘quite drunk’ and shortly after injected herself with an unknown substance.

She then collapsed and had some form of fit, the inquest heard.

Ms Dwyer called the ambulance service and attempted to administer CPR and first aid before handing over to paramedics after they arrived.

She was taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where the time of death was recorded as 3.46am.

A statement from Ms Dwyer said her friend had problems with alcohol and used to smoke cocaine.

Coroner Richard Newman ruled Miss Hearle died from a drug-related death.

Mr Newman said: “She had injected herself with a cocktail of drugs and developed catastrophic circumstances.

“As so often is the cases as we witness with substance addiction problems she valiantly tried to sort her life out.

“However she returned to the crutch of substance misuse.”

Although she ‘deliberately’ injected herself with the substance Mr Newman said there was not sufficient evidence to suggest it was suicide.

A post mortem examination from Dr Muammer Al-Mudhaffer ruled the cause of death was central nervous system and cardiovascular system depression.

He said several needle marks were found on her body and there were traces of several drugs in her system.

Gary Howarth, from drugs and alcohol charity Inspire, said Miss Hearle visited them from August 2016 to June 2017.

He said she had showed positive signs before she fell back into drug usage.

He said: “She did complete detoxification in July 2017.

“However she relapsed back into the use of addictive substances.”

Police investigators determined there was no third party involvement in the death and that there were no suspicious circumstances involved.
