BLACKBURN Rovers have said Bradley Dack has ‘learnt his lesson’ after it was revealed the midfielder had been arrested for attacking a police officer.

The 24-year-old man, who was named the EFL League One player of the year for a second time on Sunday, was accused of criminal damage and assaulting a police officer during a night out in Manchester last September, according to a report in the national press.

It is thought he had been celebrating Rovers’ 1-0 victory over his former club Gillingham.

After the incident, it is believed Dack was sentenced to a year-long community order, 100 hours of unpaid work, and ordered to pay £85 costs and a victim surcharge free of £85 after he appeared in court in October 1 last year.

The midfielder, who was thought to be doing unpaid work twice a week in the evenings to avoid clashes with football training, has now completed his ‘community obligations’, which included caring for the disabled.

Blackburn Rovers have now defended the player who they say has “learnt his lesson” following the arrest.

A club spokesman said: “The incident happened over six months ago.

“Bradley has now completed his community obligations and has learnt his lessons, so we consider the matter to have been dealt with.”

The Rovers ace, who is currently in a relationship with Love Island star Olivia Attwood, has been a revelation and scored 16 goals in his debut season for the club following his summer move from Gillingham.

Dack saw off competition from Wigan’s Nick Powell and Peterborough’s Jack Marriott to be named this year’s League One player of the year at Sunday’s London award ceremony.

He last won the award with his former club, the Gills, in 2015/16.
