A SCHOOLGIRL who has raised thousands of pounds for charity has reached the final of a beauty pageant competition.

Eddison Holmes, 15, will compete in the Miss Junior Teen Great Britain final at The Globe Theatre, Blackpool, on October 20 and October 21 this year.

The teenager battled through two rounds to get as far as she has and this is the second time she has competed in the competition after she finished in the top eight last year.

Eddison attends Queen Elizabeth's Grammar School in the town, said: "I'm very excited about it.

"I entered the competition last year and it's a good way to meet new people and a good confidence builder.

"I see it as more of a hobby and interest but it's something I really enjoy.

She will come up against a panel of 12 judges and the participants will be marked on things such as their clothing and poise.

The competition also sees the finalists raise money for charity, with Eddison raising money for children's charity Together for Short Lives.

Last year, all the contestants raised £42,000 for the charity from the competition and in the past Eddison has taken part in various other charity events.

Fundraising has seen Eddison take part in Burnley's Race for Life last year where she raised hundreds of pounds, while a group colour in Manchester saw her help raise thousands of pounds.

In her spare time, Eddison also raises money through bake sales.

Eddison, who lives with two sisters Ruby, 10 and Rose, 5 and her parents, said: "I enjoy taking part in charity events and organising bake sales.

"I'm arranging another one to help raise money for the pageant competition this year.

"I'd also like to thank Tropic Skincare who donated raffle prizes to help me raise money last year."

Eddison's nan Chris Howorth said: "I'm really proud of her and so are her whole family.

"It's not just about winning for her but also the taking part being involved in charity work.

"Winning the crown would be the icing on the cake I guess.

"It's a hobby and interest and something she really enjoys and a good confidence builder.

"She enjoys dressing up and putting on make-up and doing her hair and can't wait for the competition again this year."
