THE Lancashire Telegraph can exclusively reveal Burnley's Primark store will open on Friday, May 18, creating 110 jobs.

The new store will open at 10am and will cover more than 32,000 square feet of retail space.

Since the December 2015 announcement of the coup for the town, opening had been scheduled for some time this year.

Politicians and town hall officials worked closely with Addington Capital on the deal, which will bring the popular clothes retailer to Charter Walk Shopping Centre.

The new Primark store will be on Curzon Street, next door to Next.

The brand provides a variety of men's, women's and children's clothing.

Plans for large Burnley retail and leisure site with 300 jobs revealed

Speaking after the initial announcement the clothing giant was coming to the town, Burnley Council leader, Cllr Mark Townsend, said: "We are delighted that a leading retailer such as Primark is coming to Burnley as well as securing further long term commitments to the town from Wilko and Poundland.

"We are fully aware of the positive impact on visitors to the town that Primark will bring which will have added benefits for all retailers in the town.

"We see the development of the town centre into a sub-regional centre as a key part of our long term vision for Burnley.

"That is why we have not only supported this development but also jointly invested over £3 million with Lancashire County Council into improving public realm in the town as well as removing the redundant former cinema block, open market and ramp adjoining the market square which will be demolished in the next 12 months."

A Primark spokesman said: "The new Primark store in Burnley will open on Friday 18th May at 10am.

"The store will have over 32,000 sq ft of retail space and will feature the latest trends in women’s, men’s and children’s fashions including footwear, accessories as well as lingerie, beauty and homeware.

"The store’s design and layout builds on Primark’s latest contemporary shop fit."
