YOU know the wrong man is in charge of a country when he proposes that it might be a good idea to arm teachers in schools.

Of course they would be trained and know how to use a gun which would make parents a little happier, I'm sure.

But you can see why President Trump might have suggested it. He can’t do anything about gun control because let’s face it there is far too much money to be lost.

And in the grand scheme of things no man or woman has ever made a decision where vast amounts of money could be lost to save the lives of ordinary citizens.

So, why not propose something where you can sell more guns but at the same time pretend it will stop people going on rampages.

The response in the past week has been what you might expect.

On the one side you have young people speaking out wanting the government to take action and on the other side you have the establishment wanting to keep things as they are and hope that things will soon just pass over.

It is fitting though that a man elected to shake up the establishment is in fact more a part of it now than he was when he began his term.

Be thankful we have strict gun control and not faced with such constant dangers.

It was also interesting to see how are now painting Russia as this new threat.

That the Russians now had the power to affect our elections here if we don’t pump more money into the military and cyber-warfare.

Has anything really changed in the past 20 years?

Russia has always been a country looking to support regimes which we are not so friendly with and in doing so does that make them the new enemy?

We try to make sure we have the right man or woman in charge in countries that are strategically important to us and so do the Russians.

We support despot regimes in the hope we can sell them weapons or buy their oil and the Russians are no different.

They bomb countries in covert wars and kill innocent civilians and so sadly do our allies.

We have freed a lot of countries that way.

So, can we all face the fact that, yes, the Russians may well be a more brutal in their responses and wanting to get their own way but we are not so different when it comes to foreign policy decisions.
