POLICE are appealing for information after a safe was stolen from a gold club.

The incident took place on February 11 shortly before 9pm.

A police spokesman said two men forced entry to Towneley Golf Club in Todmorden Road, Burnley.

They took a metal safe containing around £3,000 and made their way across Towneley Park to a waiting vehicle in Todmorden Road the spokesman said.

PC David Greenwood from Burnley Police said: “Some of money stolen was funds for the club which will obviously have an impact on members.
