SCORES of children took part in a multi-sports camp during the half term holidays.

Youngsters aged four to 11 spent their half term holiday at the Multi-sports holiday camp at Higham St John's Primary School, Higham, Burnley.

Run by organiser Ben Bridson with lead coach Ben Catlow the camp gave the children the opportunity to take part in a variety of sports including football, dodgeball, tennis and more.

There were also arts and crafts sessions, dance classes and Tri-Golf games for younger participants.

Mr Bridson, who works as a freelance sports coach, said the camp has been great for boosting the children's confidence.

He said:"We held the fist one just after new year and had a great response so we decided to carry it on.

"The main aim of the camp was to get children into sports but we've achieved so much more.

"We opened the camp up to schools across the area, so it gave the kids a chance to make new friends from different schools.

"We've had a lot of parents come back and say the camp has boosted their childs confidence which is great.

"We're giving them a chance to have a go at all these different sports with no pressure because it's just for fun.

"We have craft classes for the little ones as well so no one is left out.

"There really is something for everyone."

Ben Catlow, Head Coach for the event, said: "The kids got the chance to make new friends, try out a new sports and stay fit during the holidays”.

"The camp ran throughout the holidays and we have around 40 children on average take part every week.

"It's important to stay active all year round and this was a great chance for them to do that in a safe and secure environment.

"We've had great feedback since starting the camps."

Nine-year-old Isabella Gray, from Burnley took part in the camp. She said: “It’s been so much fun and I’ve made new friends. Getting a trophy, medal and certificate at the end was really good.

“I can’t wait for the next one.”

The children celebrated the final day of the camp yesterday with a Jabob's Joint, party games, and a disco.
