TWO of Lancashire’s top chefs have revealed a Ribble Valley eaterie as one of their favourite restaurants to celebrate Chinese New Year.

Steven Smith, chef patron from the Freemasons at Wiswell near Clitheroe, and Lisa Goodwin-Allen, executive head chef at Northcote Hotel and Restaurant in Langho, both recommend Yu & You, Copster Green, to indulge in some Chinese cuisine this weekend.

Yesterday, people around the world welcomed in the Year of the Dog with dancing, feasting, prayers and ceremony.

Celebrations are set to continue throughout the weekend, so why not get your tastebuds tingling to mark the occasion?

Steven knows a thing or two about good grub - the Freemasons at Wiswell is number one in the Good Food Guide, number four in the Top 50 Gastropubs and a Sunday Times Top 100 Restaurant.

When he is not cooking great British pub food, Steven is a huge supporter of Yu & You in Longsight Road.

He said: “I’m a big fan of Yu & You and have been going for many years.

“The menu is fantastic, the main issue is trying to decide what to have!

“The atmosphere is always inviting, and it always feels like a real treat to dine there.”

Lisa, who took over the reins of Michelin-starred Northcote in December 2017, also gives Yu & You the thumbs-up.

She said: “Victor Yu, the chef, is a master of Chinese cuisine.

“It’s very tasty food and it’s enjoyable for all the family to go and eat in a great atmosphere. It’s been proven as they’ve been named The Best Chinese in the North at the British Chinese Food Awards.?

“It’s incredibly high quality and really tasty food. It’s a place I love to visit,” Lisa added.

While Yu & You may be the choice of the professionals, foodie fans also rated it the top Chinese restaurant in the area on TripAdvisor.

With a four out of five rating, from 361 reviews, it was recently hailed ‘one of the best restaurants I have been to’ by an impressed diner.

Other top-rated Chinese restaurants in the area include Great Village Restaurant, Pinewood, Blackburn, and Guide Village Cantonese in School Lane.

If you fancy a night in tucking into tasty Chinese grub, you could try Wok Star, Bolton Road, Blackburn, or New Moon, New Chapel Street, Blackburn, for a takeaway treat.
