REPORTED crime in East Lancashire is on the rise, according to the latest figures.

The statistics, released by police.uk, show that overall monthly crime was up from 225 incidents to 257.

The figures show that incidents of anti-social behaviour went up from 57 to 59, burglaries increased from nine to 13, criminal damage and arson jumped up from seven to 13, public order offences rose from 12 to 15 and reports of shoplifting went up from 41 to 56.

The statistics also revealed that theft from the person increased from seven to nine and violence and sexual offences went up by four to 56.

However, during the same period reports of bicycle thefts dropped from four to one and other thefts went down from 24 to 18.

Possession of weapon offences remained at two, robberies stayed at two, other crime offences remained at two and vehicle crime stayed at five.

The statistics cover the period of November to December.
