A POLICE escort will accompany the family for the funeral of a much-loved mum of two from Rishton.

Susan Shaw, 47, died in a car crash in the town on Boxing Day.

Funeral arrangements have been announced in which the police escort will accompany the family to the service on January 30 at St Peter and St Paul’s Church at 1.30pm, followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium at 3pm.

Susan’s family have been amazed by the support from the community and are expecting a big turnout for the funeral.

They have issued a ‘bright clothing’ message to mourners.

“Susan loved to wear bling and sparkle so please feel free to wear either or both,” they said.

Sister Debbie, mum Annette, dad David and children Leanne and Adam said: “Susan was a much loved and cherished family member and was well known and loved by the local community.

“Susan will be sadly missed by all her family and friends and Smudge her beloved dog.

“We would like to thank Switch On Rishton and all the local businesses for all their help and support and the community as a whole.

“We have been overwhelmed with all the support and kindness.

“We have had lots of cards and flowers and we want to thank the police liaison officer involved.

“The Rev Christopher Holden from St Peter and St Paul’s has been a great help with church service arrangements.

“We could not have got through this tough time without the help of Rishton Funeral Services.

“Also all of the kind donations to the Just Giving page for the funeral as well as collections at local shops.”

The funeral will be family flowers only.
