A GROUP of females gave school pupils an insight into developing their own leadership skills to boost career prospects.

Tauheedul Islam Girls’ High School hosted its first Leadership Conference last Friday.

The event brought together pupils from Years 11 to 13 at the Blackburn school with successful women working in leadership roles across politics, business and digital design. Parents and carers were also welcome to attend.

Pupils heard from four key speakers: Lorna Fitzsimons, former MP for Rochdale and now Chief Executive of Lorna Fitzsimons Consulting; Lou Cordwell of digital design agency Magnetic North; Emma Degg, Chief Executive of North West Business Leadership Team; and Brenda Yearsley of Siemens.

TIGHS Head Girl, Ayah Shah, took part in the Leadership Conference. She said: “Seeing how these women were able to take their own initiative and reach the level of success that they have was truly inspiring."
