A MAN has appeared before magistrates accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl and attempting to engage a teenage girl in sexual activity.

Blackburn Magistrates Court heard how 20-year-old Nathan Davies allegedly sexually a 15-year-old girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, in Oswaldtwistle.

That offence is said to have taken place between November 24, 2016 and New Year’s Eve 2016.

Davies, of Whalley Road, Accrington, is said to have attempted to cause or incite a 15-year-old girl to engage in sexual activity. That offence is alleged to have happened in Accrington in September, last year.

Davies is alleged to have committed the same offence between March 2016 and June 2016.

Magistrates were told Davies was allegedly in possession of five category C - the least serious - indecent images of a child.

No pleas were entered to one count of sexual assault, two counts of intentionally attempting to cause or incite a girl aged 15 to engage in sexual activity, and one of possessing indecent images of a child.

The case was sent to Burnley Crown Court where Davies will appear before a judge on February 14.

He was granted unconditional bail until the hearing at the crown court.
