A MAN with Asperger's Syndrome who was searching for employment has found a job.

Liam Riley, 34, said he was 'over the moon' and will be starting his new admin role at Rapid Recruitment in Burnley on Monday following a social media appeal by his brother, Kev.

Kev, 37, had made it his New Year's resolution to help find him a part time job and help him feel 'more valued'.

The condition means Liam, a former Calder View Special School pupil, has difficulties with completing certain tasks.

The owner of the company, James McKenna, had spotted Kev's plea on social media while on holiday in Thailand and asked his employees to contact Kev.

He has spent the past seven years volunteering at Burnley General Teaching Hospital in the antenatal unit and has previously held jobs in the past.

Kev said the news felt like a victory for the whole family.

He said: "It's absolutely fantastic, we are so happy for Liam.

"We got a call from Rapid Recruitment asking Liam to come down and we didn't think it was for a job, we thought it was to sign him up to the recruitment agency.

"Before we knew it he was having an interview and he got a job, it's amazing.

"The job will involve him being repetitive which is something he prefers and is comfortable with.

"It's so great, it's amazing what the power of social media can do.

"He's said his first wage packet will be spent on a Burnley Football Club away match because he loves the Clarets.

Mr Riley took to Facebook to appeal for help and his post was shared around 5,000 times, with hundreds of messages of support coming from across the UK, the USA, Canada and Panama.

Liam's new role will see him doing 20 hours a week from Monday to Wednesday.

On Wednesday the Lancashire Telegraph ran the story to help raise awareness of Kev's New Year's resolution.

At the time, Kev said Liam would brighten up any company, he doesn't need to earn a fortune he just needs to have a feeling of value.

Liam said: "I would like to thank everyone for their unbelievable responses from my brother's plea for help.

"I am completely over the moon with this job offer.

"I want to thank Coral and Beverly at Rapid Recruitment for all their help.

"I am looking forward to starting the next part of my life on Monday."
