A 27-YEAR-OLD man “snapped” himself as he stole two CCTV cameras from the London Midland Railway Club in Burnley.

Blackburn magistrates heard the last thing the cameras recorded before they were disconnected was a close-up of Kurt Alan Marsden.

Marsden, of Lark Street, Burnley, pleaded guilty to theft of two cameras worth £300.

He was given a conditional discharge for 12 months for the offence but jailed for 14 weeks for being in breach of a suspended prison sentence order imposed in April.

Alex Mann, prosecuting, said there had already been two breaches of the suspended prison sentence order.

“The problem with stealing CCTV cameras is that they take a photograph of you,” said Mrs Mann.

Mark Williams, defending, said his client had no recollection of the offence which was committed during a drinking binge.

“The police have shown him the footage from the cameras which were recording until the point of disconnection,” said Mr Williams.

“He doesn’t remember the incident or what he did with the cameras. He didn’t have them when he woke up the following day.”
