MILLIONS of pounds will be spent on a new residential development in a rural village.

Ribble Valley Council has given the green light for Chipping Homes Limited’s £13million residential development at Church Raike in Chipping.

Due to commence on site in early 2018, the 4.4-acre development will provide 39 houses, including a range of three, four and five bedroom detached family homes and seven bungalows for the benefit of local elderly people.

Built using natural stone, render and buff brick, with slate and tile roofs, the properties have been designed to be in-keeping with the historical character of Chipping village.

The new homes on the development will form part of the £19million Kirk Mill 'master' plan, which received outline planning in 2016 to convert the 18th Century Arkwright-style mill into a spa hotel, restaurant and other village amenities.

The show home is expected to be opened in summer 2018.

Speaking about the successful planning application for Chipping Homes, its director, Ken Whitaker, said: "The homes will form part of the wider renaissance project to contribute to the future prosperity and culture of Chipping village, whilst also bringing economic benefits with employment and amenities."
