ALEX Davies has been selected for the 2018 North v South series alongside Lancashire teammates Saqib Mahmood and Matt Parkinson.

Wicketkeeper Davies, from Darwen, will tour the West Indies with England Lions next month and is part of the 15-man North squad looking for revenge in Barbados after suffering a 3-0 whitewash in the inaugural series last year.

New Nottinghamshire skipper Steven Mullaney will captain the North side, which will be coached by former England all-rounder Paul Collingwood, for the three matches at the Kensington Oval on March 18, 21 and 23.

Kent batsman Sam Northeast hit a century in the second game of the 2017 series and will return to lead the South team, who will be overseen by England batting coach Mark Ramprakash.

England internationals Keaton Jennings and Liam Dawson will be on opposing teams while Ben Duckett is included in the North squad despite receiving a final written warning over his conduct after pouring a drink over England's leading wicket-taker James Anderson in a Perth bar in December

National selector James Whitaker said: "We believe these are two exciting squads which again underline the value of this North v South series as an opportunity for us to see some strong contenders for white-ball cricket playing at a higher level of competition and intensity."
