A FIRST look has been revealed into a new housing development featuring 205 homes.

Story Homes has released an artist impression for its first development in Blackburn, called The Sycamores, based in Gib Lane.

The development features 205 homes, including three, four and five-bedroom detached and semi-detached homes providing up to 1,905 sq ft of living space.

Construction of the homes is underway, with the first residents due to move in summer 2018.

The housing group said the development will have 'amazing views' and 'complement the character of the area'.

Sales manager, Richard Kitson said, “We are excited to be opening our first development in Blackburn.

"The development has been extremely well thought out and is not only high-quality but also complements the existing character of the area.

“As well as boasting our premier specification the exteriors of these homes will complement the existing character of the area and will provide open space for use by the whole community.

“The location is absolutely fantastic with amazing views."

Sales for The Sycamores will launch at an exclusive invite only event later this month when prices for the homes will also be revealed.

The marketing suite will be based at their Pendleton Grange development in Clitheroe before opening on site in spring 2018.

Mr Kitson said the first phase of site set-up has began which includes the groundwork, laying down the infrastructure, roads and sewers.

In the next few weeks they will be able to start building the foundations of the first plots, including the show home.

Cllr Phil Riley, regeneration boss at Blackburn with Darwen council, praised the development and said it is good news for the area.

He said: "Story Homes are a well recognised regional housing developer.

"I am very pleased they have chosen to take an interest in Blackburn, it should be great for the area.

"I expect all the houses will be very popular."

The green light was given to the project by Blackburn with Darwen’s planning and highways committee in July 2017.

The homes will include bi-fold doors, a double oven, gas hob, integrated dishwasher and fridge freezer in the kitchen.

Each home also comes with a fully turfed front and rear garden and block paved driveway as standard.
