AN MP has backed government plan to eliminate avoidable plastic waste.
This comes following yesterday's announcement by Theresa May in which she outlining steps for a cleaner, greener Britain and pledged to eliminate all avoidable plastic waste within a quarter of a century.
MP for Rossendale and Darwen Jake Berry took to Facebook to share his support, he said: "Plastic causes immense suffering to animals and degrades vital habitats.
"We must reduce the demand for plastic, reduce the number of plastics in circulation and improve our recycling rates.
"To do this we will take action at every stage of the production and consumption of plastic.
A call for evidence on how to reduce the use of single-use plastics will begin next month."
