A WOMAN was taken to hospital after colliding with a van as she got off the bus.
The woman in her mid-40s suffered leg injuries as a result of the impact in Wigan Road, Deane.
She had just dismounted the 540 Stagecoach bus service, towards Wigan, when she collided with a Nissan van.
A passer-by dialled 999 and a road ambulance and police arrived on the scene, near the junction with Bent Hill Street.
A spokeswoman for the North West Ambulance Service said: “We were called just after 2.40pm.
“The woman suffered from leg pain.
“She was taken to Royal Bolton Hospital.”
A passenger on the bus, Dennis Parkinson, said the bus was just outside Ravat & Ray Dental Care when the incident occurred on Wednesday, January 3.
It is understood the woman was crossing the road to the dentist at the time.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said: “We were called just before 3pm to reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a Nissan Van.
“The woman got off the bus and at that point, the collision happened.
“She suffered from minor injuries.
“Road closures were in place until around 3.30pm.”
