A SUPERMODEL who found fame on the catwalk is set to appear on prime time television.

Agyness Deyn - best known in the noughties for her cropped blonde haircut and catwalk appearances - will star in a new BBC One drama.

The model-turned-actress famously met best friend and fashion designer Henry Holland when she was serving in a Ramsbottom fish and chip shop.

The friends moved to London where Agyness was spotted by a model scout during a shopping trip.

Now Agyness, born Laura Michelle Hollins, has been selected to play a lead role in a pre-apocalyptic crime drama.

From the creator of cop drama Luther, Hard Sun sees the 34-year-old join Jim Sturgess as a detective battling rising lawlessness.

Her character Detective Inspector Elaine Renko is described as difficult and damaged, but incorruptible, while Detective Chief Inspector Charlie Hicks is a family man committed to his work.

The pair filmed the six hour-long episodes at Hanstead Park in Bricket Wood, Hertfordshire.

Agyness' career took off after she was photographed by Mario Testino for Vogue magazine in 2005.

She has appeared on the catwalk for Chanel, Burberry, Jean Paul Gaultier and Vivienne Westwood, among others.

In 2009, she retired from modelling to focus on an acting career.

Her ventures include 2012's Pusher, a film adaptation of Ray Robinson's Electricity in 2013, and Patient Zero in 2015.

She married New York hedge fund manager Joel McAndrew in August 2016.

Hard Sun airs on Saturday, January 6, at 9.35pm.
