THERE’S much festive cheer this holiday season as revellers gear up to celebrate Christmas.

Christmas pantomimes, plays, parties, choirs and carol singing will all be featured over the Christmas holidays in Blackburn, Burnley, Darwen, Hyndburn, Pendle, Ribble Valley and Rossendale.

1. A special ice skating show of Around the World in 80 Days will be performed at Blackburn’s Planet Ice Arena, on Lower Audley Street, on Thursday, December 21. There will be a matinee session at 1.30pm and an evening session at 7pm. Tickets will cost £8 for adults and £5 for children and be bought on the door.

2. Rudyard Kipling’s The Jungle Book will be brought to life by the Hard Graft Theatre company who will be performing shows of Mowgli and Baloo’s adventure in Clitheroe, Whitworth and Ramsbottom. It will be performed at St Mary’s Centre, Clitheroe, on December 27 and December 28 at 3pm and 6pm and at Riverside Whitworth, on Market Street, on December 29 at the same time. The play will also be held at Ramsbottom Civic Hall, on Market Place on December 30 and 31 at various times. 3. Late party enthusiasts can head to Cellar Bar and Factory Floor in Blackburn for Audacity and Home’s ‘Christmas Cracker’ on Friday, December 22. The event, which will last from 9pm to 8am, is for over-18s and will feature the best in house music. Tickets will cost £16.75.

4. Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland has been adapted by George Critchley and Arnie Breen for a fun-filled family show in Darwen this Christmas. The timeless classic will be performed at the Darwen Library Theatre, on Knott Street, and run from Friday, December 8, to Sunday, December 24. Tickets can be bought online and will cost £13 for adults. Christmas Eve performances will cost £13.

5. Between noon and 4pm on Christmas Eve, children can Skate with Santa at Planet Ice in Blackburn. Santa and his little helpers will be on the ice, giving out gifts and prizes. It will be followed by a family skate disco until 6pm. The cost is £7.

6. In Burnley, the story of Ebeneezer Scrooge in A Christmas Carol will be retold by Chapterhouse Theatre Company at Burnley Mechanics Road on December 21 from 7.30pm. Tickets will cost £15 each or £44 for a family of four and can be bought from the theatre’s box office.

7. Pantomime Beauty & The Beast is on at King George's Hall in Blackburn until New Year's Eve. True to panto form, there promises to be brilliant goodies and baddies, singing, dancing, acrobatics, and plenty of magic. The show stars Kevin Simm, from Liberty X & winner of The Voice 2016, as The Beast & Jennifer Greene as Belle.

8. A special adaptation of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas will be performed at Oswaldwistle Mills Shopping Village and Garden Centre on December 24 from 10.30am to 12.30pm. Tickets will cost £15 for children and £10 for the parent or guardian, which will include a full English breakfast and tea and coffee. Tickets can be bought from www.eventbrite.co.uk

9. In Accrington, there will be a Christmas Eve Party at the Pop Club, on Wellington Street from 7.30pm to 11.30pm on Sunday. There will be seasonal music for sequence and ballroom dances, along with a mega Christmas raffle. Tickets are £12 for guests and £10 for members. Tickets can also be bought from www.eventbrite.co.uk
