IF you can get quality fish and chips coupled with friendly service, you're coming close to the perfect meal.

I may have found a contender with this chippy.

Even though I turned up right on closing time, the staff were more than courteous and even volunteered to turn the fryer back on.

Not only that, I got free sachets of tartare sauce thrown in.

Now all this would be wasted if the food wasn't up to much but an absolutely clean plate afterwards was testament to how much I enjoyed it all.

The chips were tasty and not all identical shapes, which is always a good sign.

Being at the end of the day you might expect to get the remnants, but there wasn't a single crispy bit to be seen.

The fish had a light, fresh batter and the haddock portion was lovely and moist.

With chips and curry sauce for the better half, it came to £4.90.
