A WOMAN is raising money to help marginalised people in Malawi.

Selina Manaf from Nelson will travel to Malawi on February 12 where she will be living with a local family.

The trip has been organised by charity International Service, as part of the UK government funded International Citizen Service (ICS) programme.

The charity aims to protect and promote the rights of marginalised people in Latin America, West Africa and the Middle East.

Before she leaves, Ms Manaf must raise £300 for International Service, she said:"I will be flying out to Malawi, in February, so I would like to raise £800 for the charity.

"The money will not be going towards my trip, but will be going directly to the charity. I hope you can help me raise this and together we can change lives."

Ms Manaf has set up a Just Giving page, which has raised £500, and will be hosting a charity fundraising event today at the Little Marsden Parish, Nelson.

The event will run from 2pm until 5pm, and will include a bouncy castle, face painting, a crafts corner, and food.
