A LOGISTICIAN is celebrating after an employee landed an industry award.

Sam Fagan, of Fagan & Whalley Ltd, who are based at Shuttleworth Mead Business Park, Meadway, Padiham, won Emerging Logistics Leader of the Year at the inaugural Logistics Leadership Awards.

The awards, held at the St Johns Hotel, Solihull, brought together a cross section of senior logisticians in manufacturing, retailing and wholesaling.

The Emerging Logistics Leader of the Year category was awarded to the individual under the age of 35 who in the judge’s opinion has made the most positive contribution to the development of the art and science of logistics and supply chain management in any sector.

The award was presented to Sam by former star of The Apprentice TV programme Alex Epstein, who featured in series six of the BBC show.

Sam Fagan said: “As Projects and Systems Manager for Fagan and Whalley Ltd. It has been an extremely busy 12 months, with the go live of several new systems and the opening of two new facilities our head office; Albion House and the warehouse at Burnley Bridge.

"For as long as I can remember I have wanted to work in the logistics industry preferably in the family business and tonight’s award is recognition that I have reached certain goals in my career.

"I am delighted to receive this award identifying my achievements to date, which could not have been achieved without the support of my family, friends, mentors and colleagues at Fagan & Whalley.”

Peter Acton, managing director of the Logistics Leaders Network, who hosted the event, said: “Sam is a worthy first winner of this award for his commitment, working for the business whilst studying for his degree.

“The success of all his projects including the new-build 92,000sq. ft. semi-automated warehouse facility at Burnley Bridge and his continuous voluntary contribution to the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport as chairman of the Lancashire Group.”

Alex Epstein said: “This is a richly deserved award for Sam and I wish him every success in his future career at Fagan & Whalley.”
