A DAY of magic, festivity and happiness descended on Burnley College for its annual Christmas event.

Hundreds of people took part in the college’s Winter Wonderland which was jam-packed with activities.

Among the events included making your own snowmen, building an igloo, festive facepainting, a bouncy castle, interactive Wizard of Oz stories and a performance of 'Elf Junior, The Musica'. by the college's advanced performing arts students.

There was also a very special visit from ‘Father Christmas’.

Several people took to social media to express their delight with the wonderland event.

Kerry Hargreaves said: "Can I just say all the people involved with putting this event on need medals.

"It was a totally impressive day and a massive success."

Suzanne Whelan said: "It was wonderful.

"I brought my autistic son and there was more than enough to keep him entertained for most of the day."

Children got the chance to test their balance on an ice rink and met their favourite TV characters such as Peppa Pig.

Carla Townsend said: "It was a fantastic day.

"The college did such a good job and my little one loved it."

Christine Duxbury said: "Another amazing event again this year.

"I'd also like to thank all the college staff that helped my daughter when she fell ill and needed paramedics, your support and help was much appreciated

"Thanks to all involved, see you again next year."

The Winter Wonderland has been put on by the college for four years.

A Burnley College spokesman said: "We had the best time ever and it was great to see so many of you here.

"We hope to see you all again next year."
